đź’” Saying, Goodbye to Vezume
In 2013, we embarked on a bold mission — to reimagine how professionals present themselves to the world. The result was Vezume, a platform designed to challenge the traditional resume format.
We believed a one-dimensional A4 document couldn’t capture an individual's personality or potential. So we built a platform that allowed users to create visual resumes with videos, audio, portfolios, and credential showcases.
đź’ˇ What Made Vezume Special?
- Multimedia-rich resumes with video/audio
- 260+ customizable templates
- Custom Vezume URLs and privacy controls
- Designed PDF downloads
- Analytics engine to track resume views
- Integrations with WIX, HRMS, and ATS platforms
🌍 Recognition & Traction
- Top 20 Tech Startups in India
- Selected to showcase at RISE (Hong Kong) and Web Summit (Lisbon)
- Selected by Google as a high-growth potential company
- Users across North and South America, Europe
🇮🇳 The India Challenge
Despite global appreciation, Indian adoption was slow. Many preferred traditional formats due to recruiter perceptions. Visual resumes felt risky, even though they offered more value.
đź’¸ Bootstrapped Belief
We funded and built Vezume ourselves. MVP, production, operations, and marketing — all done with passion. But we didn’t hit the product-market fit we aimed for. We chose not to push inorganic growth without validation.
🧠Lessons Learned
- Passion alone isn’t enough — market readiness matters
- Early adopters ≠sustainable growth
- Changing behavior is hard
- Bootstrapping a disruptive idea is bold, but risky
- Even great products can miss product-market fit
🙏 Thank You
To everyone who believed in us — thank you. We're sorry we couldn’t scale this vision. But the idea lives on. Maybe one day, we’ll revisit it with a new approach.
Until then, with gratitude and humility,
Team Vezume
